Art

Jessica Locke

Many countries have patron saints -- the U.S.A., for instance, has a special devotion to the Immaculate Conception. Using Seton’s Great Saints in World History as the starting point, the theme for this year is Saints around the World, and each art project will be focused on a country’s geography and culture.

Circle Time

Carlana Sankel

Students are invited to participate in Show & Tell; hear about the saint or liturgical celebration of the week; learn Little Acts of Grace; and hear and playact Bible stories or the coming Sunday’s Gospel.

Dance

Evangeline Renieris

(Scheduled opposite gym. Combined with Group 1.)

Girls in this age group are encouraged to express themselves through creative movement. They will be introduced to basic ballet technique and positions, as well as stretching. Dancers will learn a simple ballet routine to perform at Showcase Day 1 on Friday, May 12th.

Dance attire needed:

  • pink ballet shoes that fit snugly

  • leotard & tights (any color), or a fitted top and leggings / fitted shorts

Fitted dancewear allows the teacher to gauge proper alignment and correct technique. Students change into regular clothes after dance class.

Music

Brenda Santana

(Combined with Group 1)

Students engage in music and movement using Making Music Praying Twice, a Catholic music play curriculum which incorporates hymns, chant, folk music, spoken rhythms, and movement songs. Selections are tied to the liturgical year and cycle, and children participate through song, instruments, dance, chant, and prayer. This class seeks to foster an appreciation of music and knowledge of the faith by combining the gift of music with the gifts of joyful reverence and prayer.

Tea Time

Jessica Locke

The perfect time for a mid-morning snack, students in this class will work together to prepare a Charlotte Mason-inspired tea. Simply-prepared snacks such as cream cheese & cucumber sandwiches, buttery popcorn, sliced banana on toast are included on the menu at Little Way Tea Time. We will be brewing chamomile tea and on some days we will swap out for freshly squeezed orange juice. If time allows, students will also participate in clean-up.
